About Us

Modern Pods of Florida is a spinoff of its parent company, Brick & Mortar Construction, a local Tampa builder specializing in modern bungalows that can be found sprinkled throughout the various 'Heights' neighborhoods. Joe and Mackenzie have construction in their blood, with a long family history of masons, contractors, developers and flippers. Being around many projects as a kid led Joe to begin flipping homes in Seminole Heights and South Tampa in 2001. During the great recession he went to work as a handyman which quickly turned into a remodeling and property management business and in 2016 that turned into Brick & Mortar Construction. Joe is a licensed Certified Residential Contractor with the state of Florida and now has over 20 years of industry experience. Joe and Mackenzie both have a passion for modern architecture, sustainability and the environment which is evident in every Pod built. Mackenzie graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016 with a bachelors degree in legal studies and works as a Paralegal. Mix that with her passion for construction, design, and the familial entrepreneur spirit and she is a valuable resource on many topics and makes our clients feel like part of the family.
